Real-Time Multi-Camera Vision for Posture Analysis – Use Case from Gdansk University of Technology

At Videtronic, we’re excited to see our technology being used in real-world applications that have the potential to make a meaningful impact. One such case comes from the Biomedical Engineering Department at Gdansk University of Technology, where researchers are integrating our multi-camera embedded vision solutions to develop a system for 3D body posture evaluation and motion analysis.

Project Overview

The university’s research team is currently evaluating a configuration based on six V-Link kits—each consisting of a GMSL2 serializer and deserializer—combined with one of our multi-channel CSI-2 expanders for NVIDIA Jetson AGX Xavier.

Each V-Link kit connects a Raspberry Pi camera module via GMSL2 over coaxial cable, allowing reliable, long-distance transmission of high-quality image data. The deserializer modules are then connected to our CSI expander, which interfaces seamlessly with the Jetson platform to support simultaneous data streaming from six CSI channels in parallel.

Application

The camera array is being used to capture 3D body posture and movement data, which is then processed on the NVIDIA Jetson Xavier in real time. The system is designed for use in early detection of posture and motion anomalies—a potential predictor of neurodegenerative or musculoskeletal disorders. By identifying deviations in movement patterns early, the system aims to assist clinicians in recommending preventive therapies or lifestyle changes that could delay or mitigate the onset of disease.

Why V-Link?

The research team chose Videtronic’s V-Link and CSI expander for several key reasons:

  • Long-distance connectivity using coaxial cables and FAKRA connectors
  • Low-latency, high-resolution data transmission via GMSL2
  • Scalability, allowing connection of multiple cameras to a single Jetson module
  • Plug-and-play integration with existing camera modules and NVIDIA platforms

Impact & Outlook

This project exemplifies how embedded vision can go far beyond traditional automation and robotics, serving as a tool for human-centric healthcare innovation. We’re proud that Videtronic hardware is enabling cutting-edge research that bridges AI, biomedical engineering, and preventive medicine.

Stay tuned as we continue to share more real-world applications of our products!
